Led Us Sing was developed by a team of creators, musicians, and creative professionals who had for years witnessed talent shows increasingly focusing on everything but talent. We watched with dismay as candidates were chosen more and more based on ‘bias’. For example, there was a growing preference for younger contestants. And we won’t even start on other (external) characteristics that were considered in decision-making. This was so disappointing that all desire to follow these shows was completely lost. What’s the point if you already know in advance which contestant will move on to the next round, without even hearing them sing? This motivated us to create our own format, where all external characteristics remain anonymous to the judges, so decisions are made purely based on the participants’ quality. It doesn’t get fairer than this. With the added advantage that no one can troll a participant because no one knows who that participant was. We wanted to get back to the core: the voice. The idea evolved into a completely new format that doesn’t exist anywhere else in the world. A format that combines tension, emotion, and equality in one powerful show.
